Stephen Ambrose

It must be great to be able to write a great story. A few years ago, Kevin and David suggested that I readBand of Brothers. It, and the HBO mini-series based on it, are excellent.

While driving to Atlanta one time, I listed to a book-on-tape version of the Journals of Lewis and Clark. They were the basis for Undaunted Courage, which I also liked very much. I would love to travel along the route taken by Lewis and Clark one day.

I just finished To America. It contains Ambrose’s views on several historical figures and events, with emphasis on those that he wrote books about. It almost makes me want to be an historian.

Next on my list is Ike’s Spies. I don’t know what to expect, except that I expect it to be good.

13 Moons

Charles Frazier (author of Cold Mountain) has written a new book. It’s called Thirteen Moons, and it tells the life story of Will Cooper, a colonel, senator, and Indian chief.

It’s an enjoyable book. I’d recommend you read it.
